Barbara IDIEDER is an accomplished musician with over twenty years teaching experience.
She holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) in clarinet performance from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and a further performance diploma from the ARTez Hogeschool voor de Kunsten , Arnhem, The Netherlands.
Prior to leaving Australia, Barbara taught instrumental music for a number of Sydney’s most prestigious schools including the International Grammar School, St Mary’s Cathedral College and the Sydney Church of England Girl’s Grammar.
As a musician, Barbara has performed as a member and soloist with the Sydney Chamber and Queensland Youth Orchestras and several contemporary music ensembles.
She has written for the Australasian Clarinet and Saxophone Society magazine.
In 2004 Barbara came to Vanuatu as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development to train an instrumental music tutor and spent a very enjoyable two years working with Jimmy Philemon, co-founder of the Bright Minds. During this time, Barbara also taught music for the Port Vila International School.
The following four and five years respectively were spent in the Republic of Congo and Madagascar, raising a small family, teaching and performing whenever possible. Thanks to this invaluable experience, Barbara now speaks French competently and currently holds the position of Professeur de Musique with L’école J.M.G Le Clezio, Port Vila.
Barbara is available weekday afternoons for private music tuition in the following instruments: piano, clarinet, flute, beginner classical guitar, saxophone, cello and violin. Brass possibilities. Private lessons cost 2500 vatu for 30 minutes.
